Bedding

Hotel bedding is bought on two different clocks: a mattress is a five-to-ten-year decision made once per room, and a sheet is a stock level you replenish while the property carries on around it. The two shelves below are split along that line.

Frequently asked questions

How many sets of linen per bed?

Three is the working answer — one on the bed, one in the linen room, one in the wash — with a fourth par where laundry turnaround runs past a day or the property sits near full occupancy. Order in whole pars, so rooms stay matched as sets wear out.

Do mattresses and linens have to be ordered together?

No, and usually they are not: mattresses get replaced floor by floor in a refit, linen is topped up every season. What does have to match is mattress depth against the fitted-sheet pocket — a 26 cm mattress under a shallow sheet pulls loose overnight, and housekeeping pays for that every morning.

Can you hold one standard across a whole property?

Within the limits of cloth, yes: the same specification — gsm, weave, embroidery, colour reference — repeats order to order. Dye lots do drift a shade between runs, so a mid-life top-up of a few dozen towels will not sit perfectly beside the originals. Replacing by floor or by room block keeps that difference out of any one room.
